Carrizozo will be the location for shooting part of this feature film. 12th St will be converted to look like a small town wasteland. Construction will begin in earnest the beginning of January. Filming will be March 3rd through March 10th.

Open Casting Call:
The movie, “The Book of Eli” starring Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis will hold an open casting call Saturday, January 17 from 10 am to 3:00 pm at the Carrizozo Town Hall, 400 9 th Street. Elizabeth Gabel, extras casting director, is known for her work on “3:10 to Yuma” with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, “No Country for Old Men” with the Coen Brothers, and “Terminator Salvation”. UPDATE: the casting call was a great success with over 700 people showing up. Welcome to Carrizozo Potluck was a huge success with over 150 people attending. The Carrizozo Chamber of Commerce, Carrizozo Works Inc, and the people of Carrizozo got together and put on a potluck dinner for the construction crew of The Book of Eli. We were treated to a belly dancing demonstration by a local and a Flamenco Dancing demonstration by a couple from the crew. Local businesses donated over 50 door prizes. |
