The Carrizozo Art League is a group of artists who have gaathered to show their work where they live-their studios and homes. Many artists in this group want to highlight the art talent that exists in the Carrizozo area.

1. 209 Central

Gay Speirbhain
A self-taught artist, Gay produces pieces of whimsy. Portraits of famous and infamous people, many with written verse are all painted with brilliant colors and her magical view of the world.

2. 406 Central

Dorothy Leslie
Art teacher at the Senior Center , Dorothy does portraits and landscapes in oil.

Pat Baker
Born and raised in Carrizozo, Pat started painting in 1992 after the death of her husband. She enjoys painting landscapes and old buildings.

Frances Degnar
Also a native of Carrizozo Frances has been painting since she was 10. She teaches art at the New Horizons Center and works primarily in acrylic.

Dorothy McIntosh Harvey
A long time writer and story teller, Dorothy worked primarily with character development and now translates this to the canvas. Although portraiture is her passion, she also does landscapes.

Barbara Ward
An active and vibrant 81, Barbara has been painting landscapes for many years

Bill Kerr
A Carrizozo fixture and former art professor, Bill paints china in vivid colors and metallic gold. His work includes individual pieces as well as entire table settings and painted tile furniture.

Nancy Lollar

A multi-media artist, Nancy 's latest interest has been making her "yucca snakes". After finding appropriate stalks, she sands and then paints them in the bright colors of the southwest.

Verla Caster
As a china painter, Verla's passion is to work with flowers, stems and leaves because they speak of the natural beauty of Creation. The challenge to recreate this natural beauty comes from an inner appreciation of their color and symmetry. She endeavors to create a visual fragrance of things so delicate and fragile

Barbara Culler
A form of artistic expression since the 16th century, Paper Filligree, also known as Quilling, is still being done today. Barbara uses this medium to express her feelings and provide a fascinating glimpse into the past.

Polly Chavez
A renowed local Santera, Polly also applies her artistic skills to making'bolsitas' or 'little purses' from a variety of materials including sequins, leather, lace, yarns, ribbons, beads and fur.

Karen Callahan
Karen does portraits of people, pets and homes in acrylic.

Gwendolyn Rogers Barela
Impressionistic land and skyscapes. Gwen also makes art dolls and figures.

Fine jewelry from reclaimed gold and silver.

Mike Lagg
Using his fascination with moving parts and pieces, Mike transforms wood into fun, functional art. Good design, fine crafting and problem solving are the elements he sought to develop as a wood worker. od worker.

A collection of art by students from Carrizozo schools is on display at the Otero County Electric Coop.

Joan Malkerson
Joan is a landscape painter. Most of the oil paintings are abstract, non-representational and non-linear art works. "I explore the space between the wonders of the perceptible world and an inner world found in dreams, experiences and the working process itself."

Louise Groethe
Louise is a master basket weaver. she specializes in making pine-needle baskets ranging from very large to exquisitely small.

Barbara Spencer
Barbara learned beading and tin work at Ghost Ranch, near Abiquiu. Her work now focuses on crosses, wall art, beaded bags and jewelry. She can also create designs using your old pieces to make something new and unique.

Ivy Heymann
A Potter for 25 years, Ivy creates functional, lightweight porcelain pottery. Her glazes are made from natural earth materials - a pallet of White Oaks life.

Patricia Cooper
Pat's unique talent is in recycling old denim into finely crafted jackets, handbags and hats, lately producing a line of one-of-a-kind "Red Hats for Women".
